Fruita School House

The town of Junction, Utah was originally founded in 1880 with the school house/community center being constructed in1896. The school turned out students up through 1941. The little farming community with it's long growing season produced abundent fruit crops. Sometime between 1902 and 1904 the town changed it's name to Fruita. The town is now part of the National Park System and is located in Capital Reef National Park. If you happen to be lucky enough to be in this area in late September stop in and try some of the apples that are still being grown here--they come from trees over a 100 years old and are the best apples I have ever tasted.
