The Cape Blanco lighthouse is located outside of Port Orford on the south Pacific coast of Oregon. The lighthouse started operation on December 20, 1870 using a first order Fresnel lens and an oil lamp. In 1936 electricity was brought to the lighthouse and in 1980 the lighthouse was automated. It is still in operation today acting as a navigation aid and warning shipping of the reefs that are off the coast of this part of Oregon.

The Coquille River lighthouse on the southern Pacific Coast of Oregon first lit it's beacon on Feburary 29, 1896. In 1939 electricity was brought to the area, the lighthouse abandonded and replaced by an automated beacon.

The first lighthouse at Point Arena opened on May 1, 1870. It was destroyed in the San Francisco earthquake of April 18, 1906. With four months a wooden structure had been rased as work was begun on the new lighthouse. The second tower (this time made of reenforced concrete) was completed on September 15, 1908. The station was automaged in 1977.

Images captured at Point Reyes National Seashore located just north of San Fransico on the Pacific coast. Point Reyes although attached to the mainland at this point is west of the San Andreas fault and will some day be an island in the Pacific Ocean. The first recorded shipwreck at Point Reyes was in 1595 when the Spanish Galleon San Agustin ran aground trying to find shelter from a storm. The Point Rayes Lighthouse was first opened on December 1, 1870 and automaged in 1975.

It is still a functioning lighthouse today acting as a navigation aid a warning shipping of the reefs in this area of the Oregon coast.
